What this site tracks
DataJobs.AU is a free dashboard built on live Australian data job listings rather than salary surveys or self-reported figures. Listings are collected daily, classified into six role families — Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer, and Forward Deployed Engineer — and checked against a fixed list of thirty tracked tools and technologies so the same job can be counted across every view on the site.
Because everything is derived from ads that employers actually posted, the numbers describe demand as advertised: what companies are hiring for right now, what they are willing to put in writing about pay, and which skills they keep asking for. That is a narrower claim than "what data professionals earn in Australia", and the difference matters when you are using any of this to make a decision.
The four views, and what each answers
Salary Insights compares advertised pay across roles. Monthly Snapshot tracks how listing volume has moved month to month. Skills in Demand ranks tools by how often they appear in live ads. Job Listings is the underlying set of open roles, filterable by role, city, and skill. Each is a different cut of the same daily-refreshed data.
